Statistics Canada published fascinating infographics about the gas and oil industry in Canada. The oil and gas industry employs over 72,800 people in 2019, down from around 89,600 people in 2012 when the industry was at its peak.
In 2019, oil and gas accounted for one-quarter of all jobs in energy, down from 29% in 2012. In 2019, 36 percent of oil and gas workers were female, 6 percent were indigenous, 41 percent were immigrants, and 26 percent were members of a designated visible minority group.
